The Troll Hunter

Greetins’ to joo’s on a fine Friday morning! Da’ Troll Hunter be having a very strange tale to be telling joo’s today, so joo be listening closely!

The funniest thing happened to me this morning at 3:45 a.m. in the Sholazar Basin.  It was almost as funny as me a few months ago flying right into the Time Lost Proto-Drake in Storm Peaks, but this story has a twist. As usual I got up early to make my little one’s lunch for school and logged in to check out my mail & auctions and then I decided to head out to the Sholazar Basin to farm some more herbs and mine a little since this has always seemed to be the best time on my server to do so.

The first couple of passes where very productive with not one but two Titanium veins! I be t’inking dat’ da’ spirits be with me now!! On the third pass I started to get past the giant wasps and toward the white gorillas and this time noticed something completely different below me. To my complete suprise it was of all things but Loque’nahak the Spirit Beast! If you’ve followed The Troll Hunter’s blog for a while you already know that I tamed the other Spirit Beast Gondria a few months back, but Loque’nahak has always eluded me every since Wrath was released.

Okay here’s the funny twist. At the time I see Loque’nahak I’m specced Survival (second spec Marksmanship),  and thinking “Oh Crap, I can’t even tame him!”  I figured as bad as I wanted this unique cat that I would just take the chance and use my expensive ring and hearth to Dalaran and then run to the trainer in Ogrimmar and respec back to Beast Mastery which I did, but I still had 20 minutes left of my Dalaran cool down and not a mage to be found to get a quick port. Never a squishy around when you need one!

So I ended up taking the Zeppelin to Warsong Hold and then flying back over to the basin. I figured that Loque’ was either already tamed by another lucky hunter or that someone had killed him for the achievement, especially as long as it took for me to do this! My mouth dropped open though as I flew over the cliffs and sure enough there he was right where I left him just as beautiful as ever. So this troll swooped down at the speed of light, dropped a quick freeze trap and the rest is history!  Dem’ spirits definitely be with me mon!

A quick note to all those fellow hunters out there that are still looking for Loque I can only say “Never give up”. The Troll Hunter camped the basin for almost 3 weeks in the past and never saw Loque even once, and here I find him this time when I least expected it!!  And yes, I will keep the 53/18/0 Beast Mastery spec for a while now, just to try it out once more and if for nothing else to show off my pretty spirit beasts.
